Transportation
Going to Macau is through five entry points: the Macau International Airport, the Taipa Ferry Terminal and the Macau Ferry Terminal (Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal) for those coming from Hong Kong (downtown and airport), Yuet Tung Terminal (Inner Harbour Terminal) and the Barrier Gate for those coming from mainland China.

Going around Macau
Macau’s public transport network connects the Macau Peninsula, Taipa and Coloane Islands, and the Cotai Strip which connects the two islands.
Buses and taxis are the main modes of transportation while there are many free shuttle buses offered by the casino hotels. Taxi fare is MOP 10.00 per kilometer. Since Macau is small, the cost will not go very high from place to place. Taxi from the airport is about MOP 50.00 to MP 80.00 to the Macau Peninsula.
On the other hand, most casino hotels and some other hotels offer free shuttle bus rides to some specific destinations such as the ferry terminals and the airport. It is good to check on such service from the hotels before or after booking.
Moreover, bus fare is not expensive at MOP 3.50 for three (3) kilometers, but you should have the exact amount when you ride one as there is none to give you change. Almost every “must see” place in Macau has a bus passing by or near it. You can get the bus routes from the Macau map available in the Macau Tourism Offices near Senado Leal and in Macau Fisherman’s Wharf.
The trishaw, which is a combination of tricycle and rickshaw, is available in some areas like around the lakes and parks for sightseeing purposes.
Travel Tips for those on small budget
1.From the airport, hotels have free shuttle buses that pick passengers on time intervals. If your hotel doesn’t have free shuttle bus, check which hotel that has one is near your hotel and you can ride that shuttle bus.
2.From the airport, there is an airport bus called API which goes to some areas in Macau Peninsula. Again, this can be an option if your hotel doesn’t have free shuttle bus.
3.If you are traveling in groups of three or four, and you are traveling more or less one kilometer, then it would also be wise to take the taxi.
4.To go around Macau, you can also take the free shuttle bus rides if you happen to be near the hotels which offer the bus rides or the destinations where these buses go.
